How to update the Crown logo in the header and footer of Government services
In 2024 the GOV.UK Crown logo and the Royal Coat of Arms were updated. King Charles III uses the Tudor Crown, rather than the St Edward’s Crown chosen by Queen Elizabeth II.
The updated logo and Royal Coat of Arms are included in the latest GOV.UK header and GOV.UK footer components.
Only services hosted on domains ending [myservice].service.gov.uk
should use GOV.UK branding. Other DWP services, including agent-facing services, should instead use the internal service header and internal service footer.
You can get the new logo and Coat of Arms by updating GOV.UK Frontend or using DWP CASA.
Updating your GOV.UK Frontend package to one of the following versions will give you access to the updated header and footer components.
The version you should choose depends on which version of GOV.UK Frontend you are currently using.
To update GOV.UK Frontend:
package.json
file.govuk-frontend
package to the new version you want to install.npm install
.If you have already set a custom header you will need to locate it; if not, you will need a layout that you can re-use.
If you are using DWP CASA, releases have already been made that include the new Crown logo. Choose the update that matches the major version of CASA you are currently using.
If you are using a custom layout you can get the new logo by updating GOV.UK Frontend.
